SVREP Trip to Dodgers Spring Training a Homerun!

Thanks to the generosity of the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization and the McCourt Family, SVREP's trip to Glendale, Arizona (just outside Phoenix) was a big hit! Two vans full of people left early Saturday morning, March 28, 2009, from SVREP's Los Angeles office and arrived in time to see the Dodgers play the Chicago White Sox at their new spring training facility, Camelback Ranch. The next day, before the Dodgers game against the San Diego Padres, SVREP donors had the opportunity for a private event where they were able to shake hands, get photos, and ask for autographs of Dodger Hall of Famers Tommy Lasorda, Don Newcome, and Jamie Jarin, and visit with Dodger Legends Ron Cey, Maury Wills, and a surprise appearance by Fernando Valenzuela!

Further, this event raised money for SVREP's 2009 Latino voter registration efforts, which include projects for the California Special Election in May,

as well as the race to fill former-Congresswoman Hilda Solis's California 32nd Congressional District!

SVREP again wishes to extend its warmest thanks to the Los Angeles Dodgers and the McCourt Family Group for helping make this first annual trip a success. SVREP also wishes to thank local eatery Dino's Restaurant for donating some morning breakfast for our intrepid early morning travelers
